Time to detox


Modern day life, filled with consumption of processed foods, stress, pollution and alcohol over indulgence, necessitates one to give ones body a break from time to time. You can then rid yourself of built up metabolites. These affects your health , your metabolism and your vitality.

Some people prefer not to detox or find it difficult to stick to it for a whole day. This detox is optional, but we recommend doing it before you start your diet plan. It’s only for one day

You can repeat it once a week or once a month if you prefer. Start listening to your body.

Those of you with any medical conditions must first consult your General Practitioner before embarking on a detox program. Don’t do the detox if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Warning signs that it’s time to detox:


  • Bloated tummy
  • Heartburn and acid reflux
  • Weight gain
  • Inability to lose weight even on a calorie restricted diet
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • “Beer belly”
  • Gall bladder problems
  • High blood pressure
  • Sleep apnea or snoring
  • Snoring
  • Excessive sweating

If its weight loss you’re after, or if you just want to feel healthier, then one of the best ways to rid your body of built up metabolites is to drink water.

Struggling to drink enough water? Then why not try the detox water? Not only does it taste great, it is also  good for one’s health and hardly contains any kilojoules. Prepare a big jug or water bottle and keep it overnight in the fridge. Drink 6-8 glasses daily.

Detox water recipe:


Slice the following and add to a big jug of 1,5 – 2 liter water.

  • Half a cucumber
  • Half a lemon
  • Half a grapefruit
  • Hand full of mint leaves
  • You can also add grated ginger
